Quick answer: "Expired" means the uploader set a time limit (like 7 or 30 days) and it has passed. "Invalid" usually means the file was deleted, the share was cancelled, or the link was copied wrong. Only the uploader can fix an expired or deleted share; a wrongly copied link you can fix yourself.
"Invalid link" usually means the file is gone
When TeraBox says the link is invalid or "the share does not exist", it means there is nothing at that address. Common reasons:
- The uploader deleted the file.
- The uploader cancelled the share but kept the file.
- The uploader's account was closed, or the files were cleaned up after long inactivity.
- TeraBox removed the file after a copyright or policy report.
- The link was copied incomplete, for example cut off at the end.
"Expired link" is a time based setting
When creating a share, the uploader chooses how long it lasts: 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or permanent. After that time, the share closes automatically even though the file is still in their storage. The fix is easy for the uploader and impossible for anyone else: they share it again.
If you are the uploader: in the TeraBox app, select the file, tap Share, choose Permanent as the validity, and send the new link.
Is it possible the problem is on your side?
Sometimes, yes. Check these before you give up:
- Is the link complete? Compare it with the original message. Links cut off by "..." in chat previews fail.
- Is there a space or extra character at the end? Our player cleans this up, but other tools may not.
- Did you copy the folder instead of the file? That gives a different error but people confuse them.
- Open it in TeraBox's own web page. If TeraBox shows the file, the link is alive and you can try our player again.
What a tool like Ontrepid Play can and cannot do
| Situation | Can a player fix it? |
|---|---|
| Expired share | No, uploader must re-share |
| Deleted file | No |
| Cancelled share | No |
| Link copied badly | Yes, copy it again correctly |
| Folder link | Yes, copy the single video link |
| TeraBox busy | Yes, wait and retry |
Any website that claims it can open deleted or expired TeraBox files is not being truthful. Those files are no longer available from TeraBox.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an expired and invalid TeraBox link?
Expired means the share's time limit ran out. Invalid usually means the file or share no longer exists, or the link is broken.
Can I recover an expired TeraBox link?
Only the uploader can, by sharing the file again.
How do I make a TeraBox link that never expires?
When sharing, choose Permanent as the validity. It still stops working if the file is deleted.
Why did a link I shared stop working?
Check the validity you picked, and whether the file is still in your storage. Inactive free accounts may also have files cleaned up.
Can Ontrepid Play open expired TeraBox links?
No. We only open shares that TeraBox still serves.
